Windows update March 2017 (KB4013429) has broken many Apps that use the Microsoft mpeg libraries. This includes PhotoVidShow and many others including 'Windows DVD Player'.
Since this Windows update, importing video (.mp4) or (.mov) into PhotoVidShow now causes it to crash.
Hopefully Microsoft will release an update soon. Currently the only known (easy) solution, is to uninstall this latest Windows update KB4013429
More posts soon as more information available.

This problem is only believed to happen on Windows 10 PC's, and on PC's that were either updated from Windows 7, or have the Windows DVD player app installed.

This issue has been fixed by Microsoft in Windows 10 update (KB4015438). Your PC should automatically update to this.
Also PhotoVidShow version 4.5.1 and on-wards should not have this problem.
